TBF-QM-81 Queen Mary’s Laurel-Wreath Tiara

81. Queen Mary’s Laurel-Wreath Tiara

The origins of this diamond laurel-wreath tiara are unknown. It could perhaps be the “handsome diadem of Roman workmanship”, that was a wedding present to Queen Mary from the King and Queen of Italy.[1] It was pictured worn by Queen Mary on a visit to the theatre in the 1920s. It was also loaned to, and photographed being worn by, Queen Mary’s niece, Lady Victoria Mary Constance Cambridge in 1922. Also, Queen Mary loaned it to her daughter Princess Mary, who was pictured wearing it in an official photographic sitting.[2]

The current whereabouts of this tiara are unknown.
