72. The Queen’s Botswana Sorgum Brooch

   During The Queen’s visit to Kampala in Uganda in 2007, to host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, the President of Botswana presented The Queen with this “gold and diamond brooch in the form of an ear of sorghum … a type of millet, [which] is the main crop in Botswana”.[1]

   This gift of diamonds was especially poignant as a week earlier The Queen and Prince Philip had celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. However, The Queen has never been pictured wearing this brooch publicly.
