QEII-43 The Queen’s Sapphire Flower Clips

This message #1 was written by Boffer pre-2013.

43. The Queen’s Sapphire Flower Clips

These two Cartier brooches, although seemingly a pair, were actually bought separately by King George VI in 1942 and 1945 respectively. They were gifts to The Queen, when still Princess Elizabeth, and are described as “gold flower clips, with clusters of cushion-shaped sapphires and brilliant-cut diamond centres”.[1]

The Queen has been pictured wearing them occasionally.[2]
