TBF-QM-17 Queen Mary’s Lady Mount Stephen Necklace

17. Queen Mary’s Lady Mount Stephen Necklace

This riviere necklace of 34 old-cut diamonds mounted in silver and gold was bequeathed to Queen Mary in 1933 by Lady Mount Stephen, who had been a Lady-in-Waiting to her mother, the Duchess of Teck.[1]

It was among the eight diamond collect necklaces that Queen Mary owned at the time of her death in 1953.[2] Subsequently, this necklace was bequeathed to Princess Margaret, and following her death in 2002 it was included in the auction of her jewels at Christies in 2006, realising £993,600.[3]
