QEII-86 The Queen’s Girl Guide Flower Brooch

This message #1 was written by Boffer pre-2013.

86. The Queen’s Girl Guide Flower Brooch

This brooch was presented to The Queen, as a 21st birthday present by The Girl Guide Movement. Funds were raised through every Brownie, Ranger and Girl Guide in the Empire donating a penny; it is described by Field as “a floral spray … [with] three trefoil flowers (symbolising the Guide badge) … set with diamonds, rubies, sapphires and topazes and tied with a diamond bow”.[1]

It is said to have been worn by The Queen in the early years of her marriage.
