69. The Queen’s Sapphire and Diamond Feather Brooch

   This diamond peacock feather brooch, with a large square-shaped sapphire set in the eye of the feather, was presented to The Queen as a wedding gift in 1947 by the jewellers Carrington & Co.; it is described simply in the list of official wedding presents as a “Sapphire and diamond feather brooch”.[1]

   This brooch has been worn occasionally by The Queen, most notably in 2006, during her visit to BBC Broadcasting House to mark the 80th anniversary of the Corporation’s Royal Charter.
