64. The Queen’s Emir Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain Dhow Brooch
This brooch in the form of an Arabian Dhow boat was presented to The Queen by the Emir Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain during her State Visit to the country in 1979, as part of her tour of the Gulf States.
This brooch was made by Garrard and can be seen illustrated in Gere and Culme. It consists of a gold ship with sails set entirely with baguette-cut diamonds, with a row of rubies at the base, representing the Red Sea.[1]
The Queen has never been pictured wearing this brooch publicly.
