Four Pages of Honour for King Charles

The Palace has announced that King Charles will have four Pages of Honour.

They are to be Prince George of Wales age 9, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley age 13, Nicholas Barclay age 13, and Ralph Tollemache age 12.

The boys will wear a scarlet frock coat with gold trimmings, a white satin waistcoat, white breeches and hose, white gloves, black buckled shoes and a lace cravat and ruffles.

Re: Four Pages of Honour for King Charles

Which robes?

Because there are to be only four Pages of Honour for the King, this news suggests to me to expect something rather different from the past about each robe the King might wear on arrival at the Abbey and in the Procession on leaving after the Recess. At this stage I cannot think just which robes might be used. I have not been expecting new robes.

In 1937 George VI had six Pages waiting (with the Duke of Norfolk) for him to arrive at the Abbey in his crimson Parliamentary Robe.

Wearing his purple coronation robe to leave, George VI had nine Pages.
