Two Maces

The announcement of Regalia for the coronation on 6 May mentions two Maces but with no information about what they are for, why they are present or who carries them or uses them.

I believe the Mace is a symbol of the Sovereign's authority. The reference to two Maces could be to two that are carried by Sergeants-at-Arms at the front of the Sovereign's procession. But they most likely would not be entered into the Abbey. The Maces (symbols) would not be present when the King is present.

In Parliament the Mace is never present at the same time as the Sovereign.
