TBF-QM-67 Queen Mary’s Pearl Collar

67. Queen Mary’s Pearl Collar

The origins of this collar are unclear. However, Queen Mary was photographed wearing it in the early days of her marriage.[1] Field describes this it as an “eleven-row dog-collar, with two diamond floral plaques”.[2] Queen Mary continued to wear this collar throughout her life.[3]

Upon Queen Mary’s death in 1953, this collar was bequeathed to Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester,[4] who wore it on occasion; it is now owned and worn occasionally by the present Duchess of Gloucester.[5]
