QEII-100 The Perth Bridge Opening Brooch

Edit: note the first two replies to this message #1 and QEII-78 The Queen's Amethyst Bouquet Brooch

This message #1 was written by Boffer pre-2013.

100. The Perth Bridge Opening Brooch

This brooch is described by Field as “a miniature flower bouquet with seven amethyst buds surrounded by white and yellow gold ferns and grasses, with a central group of twelve freshwater mauve-tinted pearls from the River Tay”.

This brooch was presented to The Queen in October 1960, however she has never been pictured wearing it publicly.[1]

Due to the lack of an image for this brooch, it has been confused with TBF-QEII-78 The Queen's Amethyst Bouquet Brooch which contains seven large amethysts and diamonds, which does not match the description given in Field quoted above.

Poster Franck in a message at the Royal Jewels of the World Message Board posted on 11 Nov 2013 shared his discovery of news footage which showed the brooch. Much discussion ensued at the Board.

It appears that the Queen wore the Perth Bridge Opening brooch at the Windsor Horse Show in 1995.

I would like to support LauraM's clarification by adding the pics here and the link to the news footage which Franck uncovered. Towards the end the Queen shows great interest in the brooch as she is given it.
