QEII-53 The Queen’s Coral Rose Brooch

This message #1 was written by Boffer pre-2013.
53. The Queen’s Coral Rose Brooch

The origins of this brooch are unclear. It consists of two roses, carved from coral with diamond centres, with a pavé-set diamond leaf. The Queen has worn this brooch occasionally, usually to engagements with a French connection, such as during the State Visit to President Chirac in 2004; it is thus suggested that the brooch could have been a gift from the President or Government of France.

53. The Queen's Coral Rose Brooch

In a 13 May 2012 blog posting "From Her Majesty's Jewel Vault", the blogger Order of Splendor states that the brooch was the gift of the Order of the Liberation (France). It was given  in 1990 to mark the 50th anniversary of June 18, 1940.[1]
