14. The Queen’s Flower Basket Brooch
This brooch is described by Field as a “simple garden-basket shape … [with] a spray of rubies, diamond and sapphire flowers”.[1] It was presented to The Queen, when still Princess Elizabeth, by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to mark the birth of her first son, and their first grandson, Prince Charles.[2]
This brooch was first worn by The Queen in the first official pictures of her taken with her newly-born baby.[3] It has been worn by The Queen regularly ever since.[4]
