The three Queens Consort, Alexandra, Mary and Elizabeth wore their purple (petunia for Alexandra) coronation robes throughout the entire ceremony in the Abbey. There is no change of attire for them and coronation day is the only occasion when they wear their purple coronation robe.
Below we can see the elaborate embroidery work for Queen Elizabeth's purple robe in 1937.
The Queen Consort sits on the left while the following ceremonies are performed for the KIng:
the Recognition, the Oath, the Anointing, presenting Spurs and Sword, investing with Robes, delivering the Orb, investiture with the Ring and Royal Sceptre, the Crowning, the Enthronement, the Homage.
Then the King sits waiting while the Queen Consort’s Coronation Ceremony is performed.
The Queen Consort is anointed only on the head.
On the way to her throne, the newly crowned Queen curtseys to the King who is wearing St Edward's Crown.

Queen Alexandra was quite an individual. Her coronation robe was included in an exhibition Coronation Costume 1685-1953 at London Museum in 1973. An extract from the booklet Coronation Costume is below. It explains the colour of her robe and gives details of the embroidery.
Queen Alexandra departed from tradition by having pages as trainbearers instead of maids of honour.
