For the 1937 coronation of her son King George VI, Queen Mary wore her own crown without arches - plus a stunning array of diamonds.

From the bottom, the Cullinan III and IV brooch, a very large cluster of hoops which has since been dismantled, possibly eight rivieres, possibly a pair of diamonds in the centre of the base of her crown (replacing Cullinan IV), and Cullinan V in its brooch setting on the front cross element.

Added by edit: See next message for clearer images.

For his coronation King Charles III wore two different Georges on his Garter Collar.

I have yet to establish just which one he arrived wearing. On leaving he was wearing the same "Lesser George" that was worn by George V and George VI for their coronations. More details of this to follow.

His Majesty is pictured in full regalia in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace. His Majesty is wearing The Robe of Estate, The Imperial State Crown and is holding the Sovereign’s Orb and Sovereign’s Sceptre with Cross. His Majesty is seated on one of a pair of 1902 throne chairs that were made for the future King George V and Queen Mary for use at the Coronation of King Edward VII. These throne chairs were also used in the background of the 1937 Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and by His Majesty The King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Hall to receive addresses from the Speakers of both Houses of Parliament last year.

The captions read as follows -

1. The Coronation Chair
The Coronation Chair has been the centrepiece of coronations for over 700 years. It is where His Majesty will sit to be anointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, receive the regalia, and to be crowned.
The Stone of Destiny will sit under The Coronation Chair. It is an ancient symbol of Scotland's monarchy, used for centuries in the inauguration of its kings. Seen as a sacred object, its earliest origins are now unknown.

2. The Chairs of Estate
These chairs, positioned to the south side of the High Altar, are where most of the activity takes place during the Service. This is where Her Majesty will be crowned.

3. Throne Chairs
The king and The Queen's Throne Chairs are known as the Chairs of State. This is where His Majesty will receive homage from the Archbishop of Canterbury and The Prince of Wales.

4 Cosmati Pavement
The Cosmati Pavement was laid in 1258 by order of Henry Ill The Coronation Chair will be positioned here. The elaborate mosaic has inspired elements of the design for the Anointing Screen which will shield His Majesty whilst he is being anointed with holy oil.

Some music to get into the mood in readiness for the real thing tomorrow.

The Robe of State to be worn by The Queen Consort was originally made for Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The Robe is made of crimson velvet and has been conserved with adjustments made by robemakers at Ede and Ravenscroft ahead of the Coronation. "

Note that Queen Camilla is to use the same crimson robe, ie Robe of State worn by Queen Elizabeth II. Note how the six Maids of Honour pleat it up over and over onto the outstretched arms of the Groom of the Robes. He is also laden down with QEII's Garter Collar and diamond necklace.
